Freedom

What does it really mean?
When I read the Declaration of Independance or the Constitution, it becomes clear what the definition should be. What we have in this country is something that no other country in the world has, no matter how democratic they claim to be. What men and women have fought for for over 200 years shouldn't be something that we should be so willing to give up on a whim for our "safety's" sake. It should be something that we should all defend for all the people who have sacrificed for it and for our children and grandchildren. What kind of society are we handing them if we flippantly give up our liberty?

I've scratched my head more than once since the election of Barack Obama. How could so many people be willing to submit to his style of leadership? I wonder if it's fear. Fear of freedom. If we take hold of it ourselves what does that mean? It means taking responsibility for our own lives, our own decisions, mistakes, and triumphs. That scares the crap out of too many people, I'm afraid. It's easier, of course to pass that on to anyone else, even the government. Well, what has the gov't done right? Can anyone think of one thing that the gov't has done right? I certainly can't think of anything. And I mean NOTHING. Everything they touch turns into a pile of waste.

So-what do we need now? We need to consider what it means to each of us, individually.

To me it means I'm free to:
Teach my children in a way that I see fit without any interference
Dress the way I want
Be fat or thin
Eat whatever I want (transfats and all)
Talk to anyone I want without fear of who might be listening (no one should be by the way)
Never submit to any testing that interferes with my privacy
Own any and as many firearms as I darn well please
To choose my own healthcare, my own doctors, and not have any beaurcrats choosing what I need.
To be able to say or print anything without fear of being attacked, verbally or otherwise.
To be proud to be an American and not be so ashamed that I have to apologize for it to anyone, not even foreign dignitaries or countries that have the potential to attack the US.
And most important to have, be proud of, and share my faith anywhere with anyone without fear of reproach of oppression.

God, in his sovereignty, put me here. He also inspired me to study and appreciate our history. When I read history, it's not just a bunch of dead guys, old documents and dates. It's alive and breathing. I have a running timeline in my head that is always expanding. What people did in the past to make this country what it is means something to me and it should mean something to everybody. History isn't taught in schools anymore and it's a damn shame. Young people today have no real appreciation for what's been done for them. They are brainwashed to believe that we should be ashamed of what has happened here. America isn't perfect. There have been plenty of mistakes. But we what we have accomplished is so much more than anyone could have ever imagined. Not even the Founding Fathers could have dreamt of such a country.

I'm not speaking here as a Republican, Democrat, or any political persausion. Just a simple, stay at home wife and mom who is increasingly disgusted by what I see going on around me. My kids will have an idea of what a privilige to live here and what it means to fight for what's right. They believe that anyone who wears a uniform, policeman, fireman, military, doctors, nurses, security officers, is a hero. Anyone who will stand up, without fear, to say what needs to be said should be admired and revered.

It only takes one person to change the course of history and start a revolution. Paul the Apostale, Martin Luther, Christopher Colombus, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Teddy Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, General Patton, Harry Truman. Ronald Reagan, Magaret Thatcher, the list goes on. Someone has to stand up and start a revolution in this country. It's time for another one or we will see our freedoms stamped down as they haven't been for many years.

The Tea Parties were a start but there has to be more to it than that. We need a real leader. My question is who will step up to the plate? Who is willing to take a chance and say that America is still the greatest country on earth?

There's someone out there. I just know it.
